Impact Business
THE BASIS OF IMPACT BUSINESS IS THE PREMISE THAT BUSINESS MODELS CAN SOLVE LARGE SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGES, WITH FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE. ACCORDING TO ICE (CORPORATE CITIZENSHIP INSTITUTE), THESE UNDERTAKINGS HAVE THE EXPLICIT MISSION TO GENERATE SOCIAL AND/OR ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS AT THE SAME TIME AS PROVIDING A POSITIVE AND SUSTAINABLE FINANCIAL RESULT
What can InterCement, a cement producer and distributor, contribute in terms of reducing poverty on a large scale? In the partnership with InterCement, three action areas are in full development:
1 – The inclusion of family farming in the biomass planting chain for supplying cement plants;
2 – Expansion of the Encadear program with Sebrae for forming and strengthening local suppliers, currently in three municipalities in Minas Gerais;
3 – Opportunities for improving the dwellings of low income families.
By identifying these action areas that are aligned with the InterCement chain, we believe in an increase in the social impact potential, based on sustainable partnerships with our relationship network, customers, suppliers, technical partners and employees.
